- Iowa Public Radio ran a story about creating virtual free range experiences for chickens, complete with microphones and goggles. (I’m not making this up.) The man of steel’s response to the proposal was, “Wouldn’t it be easier to open the door and let them outside?”
- Spoiler Alert: If my car is ever behind a truck full of commercial beehives I will, if necessary, break the speed limit to pass it.
- Delight: Neighbors stopping by to say they’ll be gone when the cherries on their tree ripen, so would I pick them?
What’s your definition of delight? Leave a comment.

- My favorite lilac bushes in our yard come from suckers dug from around the bushes that grew in the yard of my childhood home. Those bushes came from suckers Mom dug around town in the 1960s. One day, when we move closer to our kids, we’ll plant suckers from the bushes in our present yard in the new one so the memories firmly implanted in my heart will surround our new home.
- Quote of the week from Wait, Wait Don’t Tell Me‘s Peter Segal: Being sexy when you’re 25 is easy. In your golden years, it takes genius.
- After 50+ years on this earth, one thing is perfectly clear: I’m no genius. You?

- This week Facebook announced that they’re building a second data center in a town about 40 miles from where I live. And they have plans to build a third one. Do you know what this means? The unassuming people who populate the state where Herbert Hoover, Radar O’Reilly, and Captain Kirk were born are one building closer to world domination.
- Robin Wright is a terrific actor, but my inner fairy tale world crumbles a little each time Princess Buttercup conspires with Frank Underwood. It’s not right on so many levels.
- Simple pleasure of the week: peanut butter on a graham cracker. Yours?

- If disposable undergarments had come into being during the era of iPhones, iPods, and iPads they wouldn’t have been named Depends. They would have been called iPiddle instead.
- That new safety razor with the packaging that said it would release my inner goddess has yet to deliver on its promise. But, it hasn’t yet drawn blood either, so I’m jiggy with that.
- Satisfaction=filling one of the composition notebooks I use for prayer journals and opening a fresh one. You?

- Do you think canned refried beans would sell better if a newly opened can didn’t look quite so much like Alpo?
- The packaging on my new safety razor says using it has the potential to “release my inner goddess.” I have my doubts, but promise to keep you posted on how that’s going.
- My definition of wonder: An 18-month-old digging in the dirt and exploring the yard on a sunny spring afternoon. Yours?

- After a week that included school stabbings in Pennsylvania and shootings at Fort Hood, my resolve to educate the public about PTSD in children is stronger than ever.
- A study shows that as birth rates in our country have decreased, female ownership of small dogs has increased. I am so thankful for two children whose potty training escapades eradicated any lingering desire to spend my empty nester years cleaning up after small animals.
- Three questions I want to ask the women who approached the empty tomb and saw the risen Lord: How long until you could believed what you saw? What was it like to go from abject despair to indescribable joy? Could you sleep that night or did you stay up talking to one another?
What questions do you want to ask? Leave a comment.
