Three Thoughts for Thursday

- Now that Donna Douglas, who played Elly May Clampett on The Beverly Hillbillies, has died, who would you nominate as the new spokesperson for hillbilly chic?
- The Exotic Marigold Hotel is the best movie we’ve watched this year. Though I was disappointed it ended without a Bollywood dance number featuring Maggie Smith. What have you been watching?
- Moving Mom into assisted living is the hardest thing my sibs and I have done in a long time. What’s the hardest thing you’ve had to do?
The hardest thing I ever did was walk through the fires of schizophrenia with my daughter. It was a long struggle, and we came to a new tomorrow. Our daughter showed us what she was really made of: determination, understanding and a desire to be healthy. This enabled her to become a working girl again, a contributing member of society. We went through a storm, and came out in one piece.
Jolene, my heart hurts for you. That decision crushed my mom, too. Thinking of you.
Thank you so much, Becky. It had to be done, and from all reports, Mom is settling in well. But it still hurts.
You are amazing, Mona. Not only did your daughter show what she is made of. She saw what you are made of, too. Valuable lessons for all!
