Take note! Tomorrow is Veteran’s Day, and the date will read 11/11/11. So consider today’s three thoughts for Thursday the opening salvo of both honor due our country’s veterans and the unbridled silliness that comes with three elevens in a row.
- What we now call Veteran’s Day used to be called Armistice Day in honor of the signing of the World War I Armistice treaty signed in the Versailles Palace in France. It took place on the eleventh day of the eleventh month at the eleventh hour in 1918. To bad the war to end all wars didn’t deliver.
- Thank you Uncle Leo, Uncle Marvin, Uncle Ordel, and Uncle Jim for your service in World War II and the Korean War. During my childhood, I thought you were plain, old uncles. Now I consider you heros. Please readers, leave a comment with the names of veterans you want thank.
- My husband and I thought about getting married on 07/07/77, but that was a Thursday, so our wedding date was 07/09/77. How many Friday evening weddings do you think there will be tomorrow night?

Here are three travel-related posts since I’m on the road this week:
- I wish I’d read the Missouri DOT page declaring as structurally sound the 3,510 foot Quincy Memorial Bridge (built in 1928) over the Mississippi River before I looked down halfway across the 3,175 foot bridge.
- If you want to see more lovely fall color, travel south 3 hours from central Iowa to northern Missouri and central Illinois. Their trees are glorious, and the roses are blooming wildly…on both sides of the bridge which is structurally sound.
- Hopefully, I can cover the puffy cold sore smack dab in the middle of my upper lip with lipstick so people think I’m into botox instead.

- Note to Colorado: The cooler temperatures you sent this direction yesterday were a lovely gift. Please, don’t feel obliged to share the snow, too.
- The audio version of Home, written and narrated by Julie Andrews, is supercalifragilisticexpialidocious. Think of story time with Mary Poppins, and you’ve got it.
- Yesterday, my husband finished putting a new outer door on the main entrance to our house, which leaves me with a dilemma. Do you think I should bring up the next home improvement project now while he’s in the groove or give him a few weeks to rest up and then spring it on him?

Presenting…three new thoughts for Thursday. I’ve been working on them all week!
- When you’re kids leave home and you think the nest is empty, be warned! The monsters who eat socks, mittens, and stretch gloves still lurk in the corners.
- Barely two weeks until the FREE Inclusion Fusion web-based conference about special needs ministries opens on November 3. Oh, yeah. I’m pumped.
- 3.When an author sees the first copy of her book, it’s a lot like seeing her baby for the first time. All she can think is, “Did that really come out of me?”
Now, it’s your turn. What’s on your mind this Thursday?

This Thursday’s post is inspired by my friend Katie Wetherbee. Every week, she posts Five Facts for Friday at www.DivingforPearls.com, and they always make me laugh. I’m giving the concept a whirl because 1) imitation is a form of flattery, 2) thinking of three things is easier than thinking of five, and 3) I couldn’t think of anything else to write about today.
If the idea pans out, you’ll find three more thoughts here next Thursday, and the Thursday after that, and the…well, you get the idea. So here goes:
- Why isn’t there a Nobel Prize for cleaning ladies?
- Some days I’m smarter than my computer. Some days the computer is smarter than me. Today is the second kind of day.
- My husband is crafting a box for the ashes of Abby the dog. No wonder I love him.
