Take note! Tomorrow is Veteran’s Day, and the date will read 11/11/11. So consider today’s three thoughts for Thursday the opening salvo of both honor due our country’s veterans and the unbridled silliness that comes with three elevens in a row.
- What we now call Veteran’s Day used to be called Armistice Day in honor of the signing of the World War I Armistice treaty signed in the Versailles Palace in France. It took place on the eleventh day of the eleventh month at the eleventh hour in 1918. To bad the war to end all wars didn’t deliver.
- Thank you Uncle Leo, Uncle Marvin, Uncle Ordel, and Uncle Jim for your service in World War II and the Korean War. During my childhood, I thought you were plain, old uncles. Now I consider you heros. Please readers, leave a comment with the names of veterans you want thank.
- My husband and I thought about getting married on 07/07/77, but that was a Thursday, so our wedding date was 07/09/77. How many Friday evening weddings do you think there will be tomorrow night?
