Different Dream Vlog Series: Words of Peace

Different Dream Vlog Series Words of Peace

Friday is here again, and that means it’s time for you to be pampered with a read aloud from a devotional for parents of kids with special needs. Today’s devo, Words of Peace, comes from A Different Dream for My Child: Meditations for Parents or Critically or Chronically Ill Children. Those of you who have been in the hospital with your child–or hospitalized waiting for your baby to be born–know what an unpeaceful place it can be. But on the most difficult day of Wayne and Sandy’s lives, they found words of peace to calm their souls on the wall of a hospital room.

The Different Dream vlog series is back with another Friday edition. Today’s devotional, Scrubbing In, comes from the hospital section of  A Different Dream for My Child:Meditations for Parents or Critically or Chronically Ill Children. It’s about one of those maturing moments that are part and parcel of becoming the parent of a child with special needs, a maturing moment that changed the way I view hospital protocols and what I had to do to become the mother our son needed. No tissue warning with this one, though you may develop a hand washing compulsion if you watch it too often!

Aching arms

Friday’s here, so it’s time for a new episode in the Different Dream vlog series for parents of kids with special needs. Though if you’re not a parent, you are welcome to stick around for a peek at what it’s like to raise children with special needs and disabilities. This post is the last one in the diagnosis section of  A Different Dream for My Child: Meditations for Parents of Critically or Chronically Ill Children.

It’s called “Aching Arms,” and I had to record it two times before I could get through it without crying. The memory of holding our baby without a single tube or wire makes my eyes fill with tears every time. If you get teary at stories like that, grab a tissue before you watch the video below.

Call In the Forces

Thanks for visiting along my dusty gravel road today. If you could use a few minutes to relax, a few minutes in which someone else does all the thinking, you’ve come to the right place. You’ve landed smack dab in the middle of the Different Dream vlog series for parents of kids with special needs. Every Friday, I read a devotion from  A Different Dream for My Child: Meditations for Parents of Critically or Chronically Ill Children.

Today’s devo is found in the diagnosis section of the book. The title is Call in the Forces, which Jeff and Carolyn did after their toddler daughter was diagnosed with leukemia. But you don’t have to read about it. You get to sit back, close your eyes and listen while I read it aloud for you. Are you ready?
