It was every bit as wonderful as the critics, and Mom, said. Later, my inner movie\/history buff created this top ten list:<\/p>\n<p>10. The combination of politics and name-calling is nothing new.<\/p>\n<p>9.\u00a0\u00a0 Neither is the combination of dirty business and politics.<\/p>\n<p>8.\u00a0\u00a0 Thankfully, the chambers of Congress and spittoons no longer go together.<\/p>\n<p>7.\u00a0\u00a0 Lincoln is the poster child of self-education through reading.<\/p>\n<p>6.\u00a0\u00a0 How interesting that the poor and oppressed thanked God when the amendment abolishing slavery passed, but those in power congratulated themselves and one another.<\/p>\n<p>5.\u00a0\u00a0 The Civil War was an unspeakable tragedy and a great evil.<\/p>\n<p>4.\u00a0\u00a0 Slavery was an even greater evil.<\/p>\n<p>3.\u00a0\u00a0 <a href=\"http:\/\/movies.yahoo.com\/blogs\/movie-talk\/sally-field-steven-spielberg-won-t-let-walk-190803228.html\" target=\"_blank\">Sally Fields<\/a>&#8216; acting never ceases to amaze.<\/p>\n<p>2.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <a href=\"http:\/\/www.usatoday.com\/story\/life\/movies\/2012\/11\/08\/daniel-day-lewis-lincoln\/1672687\/\" target=\"_blank\">Daniel Day Lewis<\/a> is a phenomenal actor.<\/p>\n<p>1.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 If you feel like crying at the end of the movie, go ahead. Lincoln was a simple and complex man who sacrificed\u00a0 and died for our young country. His life and death are worthy of our tears.<\/p>\n<p>Have you seen Lincoln yet? What did you think of it?
