So today\u2019s recipe is the result of a quick poll taken on the flight home.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">The poll question was: What was your favorite main dish at camp?<br \/>\nThe unanimous response (from pollster and pollees) was: Barbecued meatballs.<br \/>\nEnough said.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Barbecued Meatballs<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Meatballs:<br \/>\n1 small can evaporated milk<br \/>\n3 pounds hamburger<br \/>\n2 cups quick oatmeal<br \/>\n2 eggs<br \/>\n1 chopped onion<br \/>\n2 teaspoons salt<br \/>\n1\/2 teaspoon pepper<br \/>\n2 teaspoons chili powder<br \/>\n1\/2 teaspoon garlic powder<\/p>\n<p>Mix together and form into balls. Place in cake pans.<\/p>\n<p>Sauce:<br \/>\n2 cups ketchup<br \/>\n1 1\/2 cups brown sugar<br \/>\n2 tablespoons liquid smoke<br \/>\n1\/2 teaspoon garlic<br \/>\n1\/2 cup chopped onion<\/p>\n<p>Mix together and pour over meatballs. Bake without the sauce in 350 degree oven until done &#8211; about an hour depending on the size of the meatballs. Transfer to a crockpot and pour sauce over top. Heat through and serve.<\/p>\n<p>This makes a big recipe, but the baked meatballs can be covered with sauce and frozen. Then put them in a crockpot in the morning and cook on low. They\u2019ll be ready when you get home!<\/p>\n<p>One of the camp cooks emailed with these variations:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Serve the meatballs Alfredo sauce and serve over noodles.<\/li>\n<li>Serve with sweet and sour sauce, pineapples, and peppers.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>We\u2019ve been back from Family Camp for two days, just enough time to miss the camp menu and not enough to do much cooking here at home.
