If you are the parent of a special needs child, you know how hard it is arrange for care so you can get away. Even if someone is willing to stay with your child, explaining the care giving routine is such a hassle, many parents decide it’s just easier to stay home.<\/p>\n

Care Giving Document for Special Needs Kids<\/h3>\n

At a recent speaking engagement, I met a mom who created a document for her child’s care givers. In it, she provides specific information about medicines, schedules, discipline strategies, feeding routines and other helpful hints. Because of the document, she has an easier time getting away now and then. Plus, her child receives more consistent care which makes life easier for everyone.<\/p>\n

This mom graciously sent the document to me so I can share with other families. For confidentiality purposes, all names and specific medical and behavioral conditions have been removed. But you can click on this\u00a0 Guide to Caring for Special Needs Kids<\/a> for a free download. Then customize it to meet your child’s needs so you can get away more easily when you need a break or have tasks outside the home.<\/p>\n
