Double yum!<\/p>\n<p>Unfortunately, today\u2019s photo doesn\u2019t do one our family\u2019s favorite June desserts justice. I forgot to take a picture until after we\u2019d all had seconds and there wasn\u2019t much fruit left. That\u2019s an endorsement in itself, don\u2019t you think?<\/p>\n<p>Assuming that some of you love the sweet June berries, here\u2019s a recipe for strawberry shortcake. It\u2019s always best to be prepared for the good things in life, don\u2019t you think?<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Strawberry Shortcake<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>1 quart strawberries, washed and hulled\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 3 teaspoons baking powder<br \/>\n1\/4 &#8211; 1\/2 cup sugar\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 1 teaspoon salt<br \/>\n2 cups flour\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 1\/3 cup oil or butter<br \/>\n2 tablespoons sugar\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 1 cup milk<\/p>\n<p>Preheat oven to 450 degrees. Slice strawberries into a bowl. Stir in sugar to taste, about 1\/4 &#8211; 1\/2 cup. In another bowl, mix flour, 2 tablespoons of sugar, baking powder and salt. Add oil and milk. If you use butter, cut it in first and then add the milk. Stir until dry ingredients are moistened. Put batter into a greased 9\u201d square or round pan. Bake for 15 \u2013 20 minutes until cake is golden brown. Set on a wire rack to cool.
