Another January Friday has arrived, so we’re serving up a new episode in the Different Dream vlog series for parents of kids with special needs over at Gravel Road’s sister website. Today’s devotional relates a favorite story from the weeks our son spent in NICU back in 1982. My husband and I still giggle whenever we tell it. As you may have guessed, it comes from the hospital section of A Different Dream for My Child: Meditations for Parents of Critically or Chronically Ill Children.
The devotional is called “The Shirt Off Her Back.” Though we never saw the woman and her son after we checked out of their boarding house, they feel like part of the family. Whenever they come to mind, I whisper a prayer of thanks to the God who used them to give us a glimpse of Christ when we needed it most.

Welcome to episode 12 in The Caregiver’s Notebook vlog series. This is the final episode in the series about how to use The Caregiver’s Notebook: An Organizational Tool and Support to Help You Care for Others. This vlog post acquaints caregivers with the resource section of the notebook.
What Kinds of Caregivers?
This book was designed to be used by caregivers in a variety of different situations. It works for adult children caring for aging parents, spouses caring for husbands or wives, and for parents caring for babies, toddlers, young children, and teens with special needs. It also can be used by parents caring for adult children with special needs, parents caring for typical babies from birth through age 3, and by senior citizens in good health who want to have their affairs in order for whoever will care for them in case of sudden illness or accident.
The Caregiver’s Notebook Vlog Series Episode 12: Resources
In this episode, caregivers reviews the glossary, the resource section, and the organizational sections of the notebook. The video is a brief review since your elementary teachers probably covered these how-to schools when you were a kid. So click below to watch episode 12.

The Caregiver’s Notebook: An Organizational Tool and Support to Help You Care for Others was officially released by Discovery House Publishers in late 2014. This series began soon offer as another way to offer support to caregivers and relieve their stress.
What Kinds of Caregivers?
The notebook was designed to be versatile enough for a variety of caregiving scenarios. It works for adult children caring for aging parents, spouses caring for husbands or wives, and for parents caring for babies, toddlers, young children, and teens with special needs. This episode explains the forms in the routines and schedule section, and caregivers are encouraged to choose the forms most suited for their caregiving situation. The episode explains how to fill out the forms and customize them to work for you and others who assist in caring for your child. Here we go!

Episode 7 of The Caregiver’s Notebook vlog series focuses on the medical information section The Caregiver’s Notebook: An Organizational Tool and Support to Help You Care for Others. It shows caregivers how to record medical history & how to log procedures, tests, treatments, therapies.
Who Needs The Caregiver’s Notebook?
The Caregiver’s Notebook to meet the needs of those dealing with a wide variety of caregiving situations. Here are some of them:
- Adult children caring for aging parents.
- Spouses caring for husbands or wives.
- Parents caring for babies, toddlers, young children, and teens with special needs.
- Parents caring for adult children with special needs.

In case you didn’t hear the big YAHOO at our house on November 1, Discovery House Publishers has officially released The Caregiver’s Notebook: An Organizational Tool and Support to Help You Care for Others. With the cat book officially out of the bag and caregivers can actually purchase the book online and at bookstores, it’s time to offer even more support.
What kind of support? How about a vlog series that walks caregivers through each section of the notebook? Think of it as week-by-week virtual hand holding sessions that allow you to complete the notebook at your own pace and according to your own schedule. Today’s vlog introduces the series. It offers information about what’s in the notebook, who it’s for, and when to begin using it. That gives those who don’t yet have the notebook time to purchase it before the next vlog post goes live next Friday. Sound good? Then let’s get started.
