Clare -

Will you be running down the street pushing extra cookies on your neighbors as you did with the chocolate cake? When that image formed in my head, I lauhged out loud.

Good to hear from you, Connie. Enjoy your guests this weekend. They're going to love your baked goods! Someday Hiram and I will drive out to sample them.

Jolene, How ironic, I stayed home this morning & baked cookies & caramel rolls for the week end, as we are having guests. Would Love to have been able to bake all day but work calls. Take Care & God Bless

Hi Jacki,

Whodda thunk two artsy, non-techies like us would love the iPad. The things you mentioned are great additions to the list. The spider finger thing is so empowering, don't you think?

Funny you should ask! I'm just writing a summary of what I love about my iPad2 for work.

I love taking notes on it. I love watching TED lectures by really amazing speakers. I love being able to google anything, anywhere (almost), anytime. I love reading books on it (but don't tell my kindle.) I love reading the New York Times and getting all sorts of news via Flipbook. I love my Words With Friends and Scrabble apps. I love taking goofy photos of my family with the camera.

And I love the magical 4-finger spiderweb whoosh that takes me back to my home screen.

Clearly I'm besotted.

Thanks to all of you for your comments about this post. Fran, my father-in-law went to the orphanage during the Great Depression. It was better than going hungry or living with an alcoholic parent. But a 10-year-old boy doesn't understand that. And I could see that boy in my father-in-law's eyes every time I looked at him. The post wasn't intended so much to be a comment on government policies and leanings. Perhaps, it's more a call to action for believers to make a real difference in the lives of widows and orphans.

Perhaps to remind us all that there are still children living without parents and people in need of love. Thanks for the beautiful post Jolene.
